The Love of Magical Wood

Wizards Cup (The Concept)

Not so long ago I was inspired when the Faculty was all mixed up by the crazy young upstart Robgea. In the chaos and excitement a brilliant idea was born. After some preliminary sharing the feedback was that the idea is golden and has since been requested to move to the next stage: Going public.

The idea is simple. The Unseen University has within it an ancient history of inter-order rivalry. To better capture this inter-order rivalry, and further compound it, I have formulated a system whereby Wizards of appropriate authority and stature can award order points (OP) in measured values (10's to 100) to UU Wizards to be collected over a period of time in a competitive fashion. Put simply: UU Orders will now be competing for OP, for glory, and quite possibly a shiny Cup!

The details are quite easy-going. So here's some bullet points.

-Wizards of appropriate authority include: Senior Wizards of the seven+one Unseen University orders, and Elected Faculty officials.

-Points values include: Any value of 10 to a maximum of 100. No more than 100 points total may be issued in a 24 hour period from a single source.

-Reasons for awarding points: Any reason an appropriate authority deems worthy.

-Can OP rewards be challenged: Absolutely, this wouldn't be the UU without a bit of political discourse. Democracy will ensue.

-How are OP rewards submitted: For now since I'm running it all submissions are to be mudmailed, emailed, IM'd, or sent with a tell to me, Poncho.
Award <Wizard> <X> points for "<brief description of reason"

-How long is a competitive season: For now 3 months. So 4 chances a year to grab the cup.

-How can OP be won by Joe-Wizard: A relative question given awards are at the discretion of those in authority but as a general guideline for you, and them, general helpfulness, guild, and talker participation are obvious ways. Others may include attending events, working with Faculty, or even future competitions with wizards from other orders (such as with wizard billiards or the duelling arena).

-Will we be able to keep track of OP: Yes, Updates will appear on the wizards board, probably in newspapers, and there will be talker announcements of points being awarded to a specific order.

The overall theme is to approach this endeavour with the same hearty, yet light-hearted, playful humour that permeates the Unseen University and Wizards Guild on the disc. Though it can become anything the officials might like it to be, the hope is that this will play on those themes we know and love while generating camaraderie and a healthy sense of competitiveness.

Note: I have idea'd a system of similar fashion for a more official and fluid operation. So here's hopeing *fingers crossed*

-What should a submission look like: A simple formula along the lines of-
